About the position

An immediate opportunity exists for a qualified candidate to provide technical expertise to support the sales of recently introduced, large-scale hydrogen generator products. As a key contributor during both the pre- and post-award phases of a contract, the candidate will re-view customers’ technical needs and recommend specific product/service solutions to meet these needs while ensuring that proposed solutions can be integrated with current Nel offerings. The candidate will collaborate various internal and external resources to provide timely customer responses to technical queries.


  • Review customer technical specifications and generate list of clarifications that will be-come part of the final contract.
  • Generate list of equipment (both Nel standard and ancillary) and outside services re-quired to meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering team to create specifications for ancillary equipment and/or scope of work details for outside service providers.
  • Oversee Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages for ancillary equipment and out-side services to obtain confirmation of feasibility and representative pricing.
  • Respond to customer technical questions regarding standard safety features, equipment operation, interface points, ancillary equipment requirements, and installation needs; includes support of customer Hazard Operability Study (HAZOP).
  • Support sales and project teams with customer technical discussions including the management of a knowledge base of commonly requested information.
  • Co-operate with bid manager to consolidate technical contents required for proposal development.
  • Interface regularly with Engineering team to continuously improve customer facing documentation and to generate business cases for new product features/request.
  • Maintain subject matter technical expertise for MW Scale hydrogen generation solutions.



Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical preferred)

Required skills and abilities

  • 7-10 years of industry related experience (Hydrogen systems (preferred), chemical processing, gas and liquid delivery, or water treatment systems).
  • Experience in applications engineering or technical sales developing complex technical solutions.
  •  Demonstrated strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Customer focus, sales mindset, coupled with good listening skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with high level of initiative and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Capable of working well in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Limited travel could be required to customer sites.

Preferred skills and abilities

  • Experience interfacing with worldwide, multi-national customers is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems and process plant design/operation is a plus.
