About the position

As a Service Technician in Nel Hydrogen A/S – Service Department, you will be responsible for performing Service and maintenance of hydrogen filling stations primarily in Northern Europe. The base for our Service Department is in Lind near Herning, but as we are developing internationally, with stations in several places in the world, you will also have to work with technicians from other parts of the world. You should expect 100-175 travel days a year, and when you are not performing service on-site, you are at home at the head office in Herning. You will most often perform your work from the service car and most often you will be two technicians at a time to perform the service tasks. You will report to our Resource & Planning Manager Europe.


  • Ensure that work on the hydrogen equipment is always carried out in accordance with Nel’s hydrogen safety standards and the customer’s specifications. (You will be certified with ‘Permit Work’ – PTW)
  • Perform scheduled service, as well as troubleshooting in the event of a sudden breakdown. Breakdown service will often require your flexibility in terms of being able to travel at short notice.
  • Participate in warranty repairs at existing hydrogen filling stations.
  • Perform documentation and reporting to the Engineering Department/management about potential faults and quality issues in the equipment.
  • Work with subcontractors / other technicians on-site.
  • To get to know the products, part of the training will take place in the Nel Global Training Centre, in the first 1-2 months of your employment.


Required skills and abilities

  • Your education may be relatively new, but we prefer that you are trained as an Industrial Electrician, or perhaps an Electrical Engineer (Installer)/Mechanical Engineer, and that you have skills in troubleshooting of technical equipment. Additional to that you may have worked a little with technique/mechanics in your spare time before you graduated.
  • Understands reading of electrical diagrams or technical drawings.
  • Experienced in working according to service instructions or procedures/standards.
  • You are structured in your mind and can work independently.
  • Understands the importance of keeping order and tidiness, both at work and in the car.
  • You have a desire to travel and to experience the world through your job and that you can commit to English, written as well as spoken, on a high level.
  • You may have some experience in performing service work e.g., from the Oil/Gas industry or the like, with high safety standards and requirements.
  • You may have experience working with flammable/explosive gases and high pressure.
  • You may have previously had travel work and may have experience working with the customer on their site.
  • You must expect to take turns joining other colleagues in a 24-hour shift scheme.
