Are you passionate about the energy transition? Join us.

Nel is a global, dedicated hydrogen company, delivering optimal solutions to produce, store, and distribute hydrogen from renewable energy. We serve industries, energy, and gas companies with leading hydrogen technology. Our roots date back to 1927, and since then, we have had a proud history of development and continuous improvement of hydrogen technologies. Today, our solutions cover the entire value chain: from hydrogen production technologies to hydrogen fueling stations, enabling industries to transition to green hydrogen, and providing fuel cell electric vehicles with the same fast fueling and long range as fossil-fueled vehicles – without the emissions.

About the position

An immediate opportunity exists for a qualified candidate to participate in the product design and development of large-scale hydrogen generators. The large-scale products have recently been introduced to the market with the development of cost reduced and larger scale products under way. This position requires a mechanical engineer with a strong background in mechanical design, complex system assembly and a broad knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals to participate in the design of these systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and select components for liquid and gas system assemblies, including fabrication.
  • Prepare and maintain bills of materials, drawings, and documentation for complex hydrogen generators and hydrogen production plants.
  • Development of specifications for vendor designed / fabricated hardware with follow-on shop inspections of equipment, including piping, vessels, structures, etc.
  • Develop general arrangement layouts of equipment and support site construction design details, equipment handling and installation, etc.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as cell stack design, manufacturing/fabrication, and equipment vendors to ensure proper system design
  • Design for compliance to various industry standards (US and international).
