Calluna is Nel’s flagship initiative to commercialise a new generation of alkaline pressurised electrolysers – smarter, smaller, and more sustainable. Through an advanced, automated manufacturing facility, the project aims to drive down the cost of green hydrogen, making renewable energy truly viable at scale.

What makes Calluna different?

High volume, low cost

Leveraging automation and production know-how from Nel’s top-tier facilities, Calluna combines advanced tech with modern manufacturing to drive down costs and ramp up output.

Zero emission hydrogen

Using only green electricity and water, the Calluna-produced PE electrolyser avoids all greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fossil-based hydrogen.

Modular & scalable

Each 25 MW pressurised electrolyser module is prefabricated, compact, and easily replicated—designed for outdoor use, rapid deployment, and flexible scaling.

Lean by design

Smaller size, less steel, and lower resource use—each electrolyser saves emissions on every level, avoiding 33.5 million tonnes of CO₂ in just ten years.
