About the position

This position requires an Electrical Engineer to apply and demonstrate knowledge of
power systems (including AC-DC rectification), electrical safety (including grounding/earthing), wiring
selection, application standards, and AC and DC power distribution within engineered systems.


Product Development

  • Designing power distribution systems through development of one-line drawings and
    electrical schematics, cable lists, load lists, and selection of circuit protection devices.
  • Work with vendors to develop and evaluate MCC assemblies, including VFD and
    transformer selection.
  • Evaluate the suitability of electrical products and components to meet technical, cost
    and codes and standards requirements.
  • Participate in cross functional project teams and execute individual project tasks including production documentation releases, test plans and reports, design documents.
  • Work with outside vendors/suppliers to evaluate production capabilities and documentation as well as to ensure integration of supplier’s equipment into the overall system.
  • Support FMEA, internal and customer HAZOP activities.
  • Define specifications for ancillary equipment to support core technology.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics for control of overall system.
  • Verify system and component capability by developing and implementing robust testing methods.
  • Prototype Test Definition, Build & Test Support.


Product/Project Support

  • Support Production Unit builds.
  • Manage customization requests to standard products, including documentation release.
  • Escalation point for Field Issues related to discipline-specific subsystem.
  • Detailed Root Cause Analysis including test protocol development and issue resolution implementation.
  • Implement product changes and retrofits based on field feedback.
  • Provide technical support to Applications Sales team during the bid process.

Special projects as required.



Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Required skills and abilities

  • 5-7 years of industry related experience (Electrolysis or AC-DC conversion systems preferred).
  • Commercial products or plant design experience preferred, specifically considering classified
    area locations per NFPA. and ATEX.
  • Working knowledge, familiarity, and application of NEC, IEC, ISO, and CE Codes and Standards.
  • Knowledge and application of voltage ranges from 120VAC to 35kV, 3 phase applications (US
    and ROW applications).
  • Experience with proper grounding for protection of equipment and personnel.
  • Demonstration of experience simplifying designs, reducing costs and increasing the value of engineered systems.
  • Understanding of sub-system operational characteristics and potential interactions that influence overall product/system performance.
  • Motivated self-starter with high level of initiative and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to manage subsystem developments, including defining requirements and milestones
    and executing independently.
  • Capable of working well in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Limited travel could be required to vendor or customer sites.

Preferred skills and abilities

  • Familiarity with medium voltage power systems and grid connections is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCad or similar for electrical schematics is a plus.
  • Experience working with electromechanical devices is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with ERP is a plus.
